Séminaire
On April 3, 2025
Séminaire par Francesco De Virgiliis (Université de Genève)
My research focuses on the communication and the connection between the brain and lymph nodes in response to environmental stimuli such as light. By using state-of-the-art techniques including retrograde tracing, optogenetics and chemogenetics I have established a first direct circuit connecting the retina to the lymph node and identified the underlying molecular mechanisms.
My research plan aims initially to extend my study to other immune organs including the spleen, bone marrow and thymus. In the longer term, I aim to expand my research to social species by proposing the concept of a social immunity, where I hypothesize the existence of an inter-individual communication of neuro-immune states.
The anticipated impact of this research is vast, promising to advance the scientific understanding of neuro-immune communication and offering new avenues for diagnosing and treating inflammatory diseases, with potential applications in health strategies and predictions of disease dynamics.
