Cookie policy

1. Preamble

The website https://neurosciences.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/ uses cookies and other trackers in order to:

  • ensure the proper functioning of the website;
  • remember your preferences;
  • measure audience and improve content;
  • integrate certain third-party content (videos, fonts, libraries, etc.).

This policy describes the types of cookies used, their purpose, their retention period, and how to manage your preferences, in accordance with:

  • Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR);
  • the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC;
  • the recommendations of the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL).

2. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. It allows information to be stored temporarily or permanently and helps to make browsing more efficient.
Some cookies are essential for the website to function; others allow us to analyze your browsing habits or personalize your experience.

3. Consent

When you first visit our website, a banner invites you to accept or customize your cookie preferences.
You are free to accept all cookies, refuse some cookies, or refuse all cookies (except those strictly necessary for the functioning of the site).
Consent is valid for a period of 6 months from the date of submission. You can change your choice at any time via the cookie management banner (managed by Tarteaucitron).
The site uses Tarteaucitron.js, a consent manager that:

  • displays the consent banner,
  • allows you to enable or disable cookies according to your choices,
  • respects your consent during your subsequent visits.

Tarteaucitron does not place any cookies before you have given your consent, except for cookies that are essential for the functioning of the site.
You can change your preferences at any time by clicking on the “Set cookies” button at the bottom of the page.

4. Categories of cookies used

4.1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the functioning of the site:
TARTEAUCITRON - remembering your consent.
Retention period: up to 6 months for consent, session for other cookies.
Consent: not required.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (Article 6.1.f GDPR).

Session management – keeps the session active

4.2 Functional cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function. Your prior consent is not required to store these cookies. These cookies enable:

The compilation of anonymous statistics on the frequency of visits and use of the various elements of the website to enable its publisher to administer and improve the website.
Adapt the presentation of the site to the display preferences of your device (language used, display resolution, operating system used, etc.) during your visits to the site, depending on the hardware and software used to view or read the site on your device.

Audience measurement cookies: we use the Matomo audience measurement tool, a French tool that collects and analyzes your data related to your visit to our site for the purpose of continuously improving the information provided. The Matomo tool allows the collected data to be hosted locally on a server at the University of Grenoble Alpes. Matomo does not transmit personal data to third parties. It installs cookies, text files placed on your computer that collect personal data used solely to provide statistical data on traffic (number of pages viewed, number of visits, visitor activity on the site, and frequency of return visits).

These are audience measurement cookies, subject to your consent:
Audience measurement cookies named _pk_ses (retention period: 30 minutes), used to temporarily store data relating to the browsing session.
Audience measurement cookies named _pk_id (retention period: 13 months), which assign a unique identifier to the visitor in order to compile anonymous visitor statistics.

4.3 Third-party cookies – embedded content

The site may embed content hosted by external providers.
The display of this content may result in cookies being stored or data being collected by these third parties. In order to access this content, you must first accept their terms of use and their privacy and cookie management policies. We have no control over the processing carried out by these external providers.
However, if you choose not to activate or view this content, no third-party cookies related to these services will be placed on your device through them.
Some content is provided by third-party services and is subject to your consent:

  • YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion
  • SoundCloud, Acast, Ausha
  • Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter

Note: these services may place their own cookies if you activate the embedded content.

4.4 External technical resources

The Website currently uses certain technical resources provided by external service providers, including jsDelivr for displaying fonts and for delivering software libraries (CDN).

  • Data transmitted: IP address and technical information (browser, type of device)
  • Legal basis: legitimate interest in enabling the website to be displayed.

When these resources are loaded, technical data such as the IP address and information about the browser or device used may be transmitted to these providers' servers outside the EU.
To limit any transfer outside the EU and restrict the transfer of data to third parties, an internal (local) hosting solution for these resources is currently being deployed. Ultimately, the fonts and libraries concerned will be hosted directly on our own servers, which will eliminate the need for data flows associated with these external providers.

5. Cookie management

You can manage your preferences:

  • via the consent banner on your first visit;
  • at any time via the cookie management module on the website;
  • or directly in your browser (cookie deletion or blocking settings).

Some technical cookies are essential: disabling them could affect the functioning of the website.

6. Security

The data collected is protected by technical and organizational measures in accordance with the provisions of Article 32 of the GDPR and the institution's PSSI.

7. Your rights

You have the following rights:

  • access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability
  • withdrawal of consent at any time
