Scientific disciplines
One of the main goals of neuroscience is to discover the mechanisms underlying the functioning of the human brain and to develop methods for repairing pathological brain damage. One of the keys to understanding its functioning is to study the electrical activity of neuronal populations. Yet, research in humans is hindered by the poor temporal and spatial resolution inherent to non-invasive brain recording techniques. My research projects aim at providing the next generation of decision-making model informed by direct recordings/stimulation experiments from the human brain - data that are not otherwise available.
At the fundamental level, I am combining cognitive paradigms, behavioral data, computational modeling and invasive recording and stimulation in psychiatric and neurological patients. This unique and original combination of techniques allows me to conduct multidisciplinary projects with significant impact (Jama Psych. 2023; eLife 2022; Nature Comm. 2021; 2023).
At the clinical level, the project will deliver new diagnostics and treatment tools: in epilepsy, we aim at better anticipating post-surgical cognitive impairments whereas in psychiatry, our projects aim at providing smarter way to stimulate the brain to alleviate more effectively the symptoms of patients with resisting obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD).
Teaching
Statistics, Cognitive Neuroscience, Intracerebral electrophysiology (about 30 hours/years)
