Communiqué / For staff
On February 21, 2025

On Friday 21 February, the second PhD Day was held at the GIN! A day organised by and for GIN doctoral students, with scientific presentations and fun activities. The initiative was supported by the GIN, Labex CerCog and the CBH Graduate School.
Introducing the day's events, Emmanuel Barbier, Director of the GIN, said he was delighted with this new edition, following the success of the first last year. Once again, some fifty GIN doctoral students were present. Referring to his own experience, he encouraged them to make the most of every opportunity: “Days like these allow you to open up to other fields, so be curious! Ask questions, try to understand, dig deeper, even if it doesn't directly concern your research subject.”
Around ten doctoral students from GIN and other Grenoble laboratories (Lidilem, GIPSA-Lab, LRB, CEA) presented their work on individual stands, where discussions in small groups were both serious and relaxed. Peer-to-peer, non-hierarchical discussions gave rise to questions and laughter.
“The idea of the day was for everyone to get to know each other” explained Mathilde Roux, a member of the Organising Committee, at the welcome desk, “over a coffee and a pain au chocolat, just like during a scientific presentation.”
The studious morning ended with a convivial lunch before a more fun and sporting afternoon. There's no doubt that the day brought back many happy memories for the doctoral students!
