Post-doc position in Neurosciences, Grenoble, France

Huntington’s disease (HD) is a neurological disorder with late manifestations. At the current time there is no treatment for this fatal disorder. HD is dominantly inherited and caused by a mutation in the gene encoding the huntingtin protein (HTT). Clear evidence shows that gain of new toxic functions by mutant HTT but also loss of the normal functions of HTT contribute to the pathological cascade. The goal of the postdoctoral project is to further study several functions of HTT at the molecular and cellular levels and how the mutation impacts on these functions. Different cellular assays including imaging of axonal transport, spindle orientation and ciliogenesis will be used and a therapy aiming at rescuing HTT normal function in HD conditions will be tested in a partnership with a Biotech company.

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist. Experience in cellular biology is required. Additional knowledge in neurological disorders would be a bonus. This Eurostar 2-year funded position is open 1st of march (2017).

The laboratory is part of the Grenoble Institute of Neurosciences GIN, a research center devoted to understanding brain functions in health and diseases. The GIN is founder member of the Grenoble center of excellence in neurodegenerative disorders (CoEN GREEN) and member of the IDEX NeuroCoG. Grenoble is an active research city in France located three hours from Paris by train.

Candidates should apply by sending a CV, a brief outline of current research, scientific interests and career goals, as well as the name and contact details of at least two academic references to sandrine.humbert@inserm.fr and frederic.saudou@inserm.fr
