GREEN: Grenoble Excellence in Neurodegeneration

Grenoble has been identified as a center of excellence in the field of neurodegenerative disorders by the French government. With the GREEN project (GREnoble Excellence in Neurodegeneration) Grenoble is integrated in the European and Canadian network of Centres Of Excellence in Neurodegeneration (COEN).

The GREEN project focuses on three main neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). However, other neurodegenerative disorders, llike PD-related disorders, Huntington’s disease and other types of dementia and are also the object of our project. The strength of GREEN is based on our outstanding expertise, ranging from basic sciences research to clinical research as well as to innovative technologies and social sciences. The possibility to assemble in Grenoble, teams with so diverse and complementary skills will favor synergic strong interactions among fundamental research, neurophysiology and clinical approaches, enabling researchers and professionals to meet the expectations of our society on major public health issues in the neurosciences field.

Research in GREEN benefits from the collaboration between its various partners and the access to large-scale facilities, like the European Synchrotron Facility (ESRF), EMBL, Institute of Structural Biology (IBS), Grenoble University Hospital (CHUGA), MINATEC technology campus and other innovative biotechnological platforms.

GREEN also develops strong relationships with local and national companies.
